Despite the controversy, Trump described Musk as someone he had a “good relationship” with and added, “I just wish him well. Very well, actually.” Musk donated approximately $275 million toward Trump’s campaign, which helped boost his presidency.

In response to the allegations, Musk issued a denial on Saturday, saying: “To be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off.” He acknowledged having tried prescription ketamine in the past and claimed it was used to help with mental health. “It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but I haven’t taken it since then,” he stated. Musk added that his earlier use of ketamine was already public knowledge on his platform, X.

Reports detail alleged drug use timeline
According to a report by The New York Times, Musk allegedly used a combination of ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms while closely involved with Trump’s 2024 campaign. The report quoted individuals familiar with the matter, claiming Musk was using these substances more heavily in the past year than was previously known. The report also said Musk frequently carried a medication box containing about 20 pills, including tablets marked as Adderall, a common stimulant.
Trump’s measured response and Musk’s strong denial keep the controversy alive amid ongoing questions about leadership and credibility.
