After a week-long suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the thrill is not only back on the fields but also in the commentary box, as ex-Indian opener Navjot Singh Sidhu is on fire again.
During the mega clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday, May 2, Sidhu was excited to spot CSK captain MS Dhoni's doppelganger at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
While speaking on air, Sidhu said he had hardly seen such a striking resemblance before, expressing his surprise.
The 43-year-old batsman, even after retiring from international cricket five years ago, continues to draw crowds at the stadium. Well, spotting a doppelganger of the player in the stands stunned the commentators.
Amid this, a video of the same uploaded by Star Sports is doing rounds on social media. In the video, Sidhu is seen saying, "Bhaiya Dhoni ka judwa bhai. Mele mein gum ho gaya tha. Kya baat kar rahe ho yaar? Yeh toh bilkul same hai. Kamaal hai yaar. Itni shakal milti hui toh dekhi nahin hai maine. Behrupiya hai guru, behrupiya. FIR likhaao."
(There's a twin of MS Dhoni. He got lost somewhere, but it's the same, and he hasn't seen such a striking resemblance earlier.)
However, the game on Tuesday was an inconsequential one in terms of playoff qualification. The CSK made a competitive 187, whereas the RR star Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a half-century.
As soon as the video surfaced on social media, it quickly went viral, and one user said, "When even the crowd’s pulling off Dhoni energy, you know it’s an IPL classic in the making!"
Another said, "A fan in the crowd had everyone doing a double-take — he looked just like Thala! Beard? Check. Calm smile? Check. Dhoni vibes?"
"Khaleel Singh Dhoni in the house"
"Dhoni 2.0 who comes in the top order!," another added.
